Banknotes issued by Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Limited
Important Note:
Users are prohibited from printing the image of any banknote from the website without the written consent of the Monetary Authority. It is stipulated under section 103 of the Crimes Ordinance that “A person who, without the consent in writing of the Monetary Authority, reproduces on any substance whatsoever, and whether or not to the correct scale, any Hong Kong currency note or any part of a Hong Kong currency note, commits an offence and is liable on summary conviction to imprisonment for 6 months and a fine of $20,000”.
Security Features
Security feature number 1 to 8 are on the front of the note, whereas number 9 is on the reverse.

Dynamic Colour-changing Pattern
The feature is on top right-hand corner of the note
When the note is tilted, the patten shifts between green and gold, while at the same time a shimmering horizontal bar is seen to be rolling up and down.

Vertical Serial Numbers
The feature is on the right-hand side of the note
A set of vertical serial numbers with progressively larger digits in adjacent positions is on right-hand side of the note. It fluoresces red under ultraviolet light.

Enhanced Watermark
The feature is on right-hand side of the note adjacent to the vertical serial numbers
Watermarks of the three note-issuing banks are standardised. Multi-tonal watermark of a bauhinia flower, highlight watermark of the denomination numeral and dot pattern can be seen when the note is held up to the light.

Fluorescent See-through Pattern
The feature is on bottom right-hand corner of the note
The patterns on the front and back fit perfectly when the note is held up to the light. When the note is put under ultraviolet light, two fluorescent colours appear.

Horizontal Serial Numbers
The feature is on bottom left-hand corner of the note
A set of horizontal serial numbers with progressively larger digits in adjacent positions is on bottom left-hand corner of the note.

Concealed Denomination
The feature is on bottom left-hand side of the note adjacent to the horizontal serial numbers
Concealed Denomination is visible when the note is tilted.

Iridescent Pattern
This feature is at the top left hand corner above the conceal denomination
Iridescent pattern is shimmering when the note is tilted under a bright light.

Embossed Feel
The feature is on top left-hand corner of the note
Raised printing giving the note a strong embossed feel by touch.

Colour-changing Windowed Metallic Thread
The feature is on centre-left of the note
When the note is tilted, the thread shifts in colour between magenta and green. When examining it closely, microtext to build the large alphabets "H" and "K" can be seen.
